The Shorkey Center exists to provide services for the individual with special needs.
These services include effective physical, occupational, and speech rehabilitation;
direct education services including therapy for children with autism and other related
disorders; and parent assistance support.


Clarence W. Crenshaw Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Crenshaw Family
in memory of Clarence W. Crenshaw

Criteria

All applicants applying for the Clarence W. Crenshaw Scholarship must:

1.    Have physical challenge.

2.    Be a resident of Chambers, Cherokee, Galveston, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton, Orange, or Tyler Counties.

3.    Submit a letter stating goals and educational objectives.

 

4.    Submit two letters of recommendation from high school teachers and/or counselors.

5.    Submit transcript of high school grades.

6.    Document proof of financial need by submitting a copy of family’s personal income tax return for year preceding scholarship application and disclose any other educational funding received.

 

7.    Furnish proof of acceptance to college or institute of choice prior to scholarship funds being awarded.

 

8.    Interview with Clarence W. Crenshaw Scholarship Committee.

Scholarship funds will not exceed $1000 per year.

Consideration of additional funding will be contingent upon maintaining a minimum grade point average of 2.5 as a full time student.
