direct education services including therapy for children with autism and other related

Shorkey Speech Therapy Services

The Shorkey Speech department offers evaluation and treatment of communication delays and disorders in areas such as
  • Receptive language
  • Expressive language
  • Articulation
  • Oral motor
  • Functional communication

Speech therapy is offered for children age birth to 21 years of age. These children may have a range of impairments from mild to severe involvement. After an initial assessment, an individualized treatment plan is developed to meet each child’s particular needs. Therapy is offered for 30 to 60- minute weekly sessions.

Therapists work collaboratively with staff from the Shorkey K.I.D.S. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), occupational therapy and physical therapy programs as well as with local School Districts. In addition, parent information and activities are provided for transfer of communication skills to the home.

Speech therapy staff are highly trained and experienced Speech-Language Pathologists with certification from ASHA (American Speech-Language–Hearing Association) and license from TSHA (Texas Speech and Hearing Association).
