The Shorkey Center exists to provide services for the individual with special needs.
These services include effective physical, occupational, and speech rehabilitation;
direct education services including therapy for children with autism and other related
disorders; and parent assistance support.

FINANCIAL NEEDS
  •  Scholarship/Financial Assistance for the K.I.D.S Program: ABA technology is a labor intensive one on one method which has proven to be very successful. It is a goal of Shorkey KIDS to provide financial relief to its parents whenever possible. All funds given for this purpose shall be used judicially and fairly.
  •  Professional Development: Another goal of KIDS is to be on the cutting edge of new research and technology. We provide our staff with continuing professional development both within our community and nationally. We provide our staff with continuing professional development both within our community and nationality. They attend the Texas Applied Behavioral Analysis (TXABA) Conference annually which costs approximately $300 per person.
  •  Field Trip Sponsors: The cost of field trips to pay for the staff and students is expensive. If you would like to sponsor a field trip, i.e. to the zoo, please contact us.
  •  Holiday/Greeting Cards and Other Gift Items Sponsors for All Our Programs: We sell greeting cards, note pads, and aprons with artwork which the children create. Sponsor’s information (name, contact information, etc.) is printed on the back of the card chosen. Other items may be underwritten without sponsor’s name on them.

  •  New video monitoring equipment
  •  New computers/printers capable of running educational software, DSL, networking, Microsoft Office
  •  Any teaching software for ages pre-school thru 6th grade –i.e. Jump Start. See www.knowledgeadventure.com
  •  Clicker 4-a talking word processor using pictures as well as words to teach children creative and factual based writing. See www.cricksoft.com
  •  Intellikeys and Overlay Maker-an adaptive keyboard used for children who have fine motor and visual scanning difficulties. Helps to develop computer skills and academic skills using computer software. See www.intellitools.com
